Genuine parts or aftermarket: what to choose for a Volvo
A genuine (OE) part guarantees an exact fit and manufacturer-approved tolerances — especially important for safety systems, sensors and electronics, where a small deviation can affect how the car behaves. Quality aftermarket parts from reputable makers can be a perfectly reasonable, more affordable choice for wear items — oil filters, brake pads, spark plugs.
It's risky to buy cheap, unbranded copies with no warranty, especially for body, brake or engine components — short-term savings can mean a repeat repair or a safety risk.
Our rule: for critical, safety-related parts we use genuine or recognised OE-grade components; for wear items we give the customer an honest choice along with the price difference. The decision is always the owner's, but our recommendation is based on the part's function, not just its price.
